Jakub Sielewiesiuk is a patent attorney and a member of the Polish Chamber of Patent Attorneys. Jakub completed a Polish patent attorney’s apprenticeship in 2008.
In 2007 – as an element of his patent attorney training – he completed Postgraduate Studies in Industrial Property Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of Warsaw University. His previous education included a B.Sc. in mathematical modelling (College of Science, Warsaw, 1997), an M.Sc. in theoretical physics (College of Science, Warsaw, 1999) and a Ph.D. in chemistry (Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, 2002).
Since August 2008 Jakub has been cooperating with the Dutch company of patent attorneys Algemeen Octrooi- en Merkenbureau B.V., which is currently starting up operations in Poland. Jakub’s work includes drafting patent applications, overseeing procedures before patent offices (including the European Patent Office), as well as developing and implementing patent protection on a global scale.
In the years 2008-2010 Jakub was preparing himself to the European qualifying examination (EQE).
The preparation included a series of intensive trainings organized by reputed institutions
(e.g. DeltaPatents, Eindhoven; PatSkills, Geneva; CEIPI, Strasbourg and the European Patent Office).
In March 2009 Jakub sat the first two parts of the European qualifying examination (A and B, i.e. writing and amending the European patent application) and passed them with very good results.
In March 2010 Jakub sat the remaining two parts of the examination (C and D, i.e. opposition and legal exam) and passed them with equally good results, thus gaining - as the second person in Poland - the qualifications of a European patent attorney.
Since 01 September 2010 Jakub is a European Patent Attorney, entered on the list of professional representatives before the European Patent Office.
As a patent attorney, Jakub mainly deals with obtaining protection for industrial property (e.g. inventions, trademarks, designs). He specialises in national and European patents.
Jakub is a native speaker of Polish, who is fluent in English and also speaks Russian.
