Poland has been removed from black list of USTR!

May 14th, 2010

On April 30th, The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) released its annual '2010 Special 301' Report on the adequacy and effectiveness of U.S. trading partners' protection of intellectual property rights (IPR).

The obligation of publishing such a report results from the provisions of the Act Trade of 1974. It includes the estimation of compliance with the IPR in particular, relevant to U.S. economic interests, states. This report is prepared by USTR on the basis of data and information obtained from private companies, local economic organizations, national governments, representatives of Congress and the federal administration. The listed countries are divided into two groups - 'Priority Watch List' and 'Watch List'.

After the several years of presence, Poland has been removed from the Watch List, in recognition of our progress in respecting IPR - especially “in recognition of a significant reduction in the availability of pirated and counterfeit goods at border markets, increased and improved enforcement efforts, and to strong cooperation between rights holders and enforcement officials. The government has also taken some initial steps to address Internet piracy concerns. The United States will continue to monitor Poland’s progress to ensure that IPR protection and enforcement improvements are ongoing”

Here you can find the full version of the report .
