How to obtain the protection of your invention in Poland quickly?

If your invention relates to a shape or a construction of an object, for example a tool or a device, we encourage you to consider protecting your invention as a utility model.

The Polish Patent Office conducts the procedure for utility model applications very efficiently. After 18 months from the date of filing or priority date your solution will be published. Shortly afterwards (usually within 2 -3 months), the Office will issue a decision on your application.

In practice this means that within about 20 months from the date of filing or from the priority date, you may already have a right of protection for your utility model granted. It is worth remembering, especially if quick obtaining of the exclusive rights is important from the perspective of your company’s plans.

In addition, a properly filed utility model application in Poland gives you the right of priority, under which you can apply for patent protection of this invention in other countries, as well as before the European Patent Office.
